Burford Managing Director Katharine Wolanyk is interviewed about Burford's latest independent research, the 2022 Affirmative Recovery Programs Report, and highlights how CFOs are asking how to reduce patenting cost or monetize their portfolios.
Wolanyk says, "'I will make a prediction here... Given what we know about all the people who are quietly having conversations with us about doing this, I think we will see more companies that are getting more comfortable with litigating in their own names and having more control over the litigation and strategy. Fast forward a couple of years, and I think this is going to continue to grow. Companies that have patents will include a big chunk of intellectual property monetization.'"
