Law360 reports on the legal finance industry's response to the EU's proposals for market regulation.
Gary Barnett, Executive Director of the International Legal Finance Association (ILFA), told Law360 that ILFA will continue to work with the commission and EU lawmakers to point out the "'unintended consequences'" of the proposals floated thus far.
Burford CEO Christopher Bogart added: "'Companies who get sued don't like being sued, and so they are opposed to litigation in all its forms,'" he said. "'This is just another manifestation of that activity. It is trying to make it more difficult to sue companies because [they] would rather not have to be held to account.'"
