Burford CEO writes for The Times about the UK Supreme Court PACCAR ruling
Burford CEO Christopher Bogart has written an op-ed in The Times about how the 2023 UK Supreme Court ruling in the case of PACCAR has made it harder for cases to be funded and flies in the face of government policy intent. He joins leading law firms and legal experts in calling on the Government to act to correct this issue.
In the op-ed he says, "'Burford Capital, a litigation funding firm listed in London with a Group-wide portfolio worth $7.5 billion, has been forced to reconsider our choice of London as a preferred dispute resolution center. Burford must make careful decisions for our stakeholders, including our UK investors and clients, and regretfully the lingering uncertainty and the Government’s silence have caused us to begin migrating some dispute resolution activity away from London.'"
